Church fundraising ideas

Need ideas for fundraising? Try making a cookbook!

Many churches hold fundraisers for a wide variety of reasons. Maybe a member has fallen on hard times or maybe the church is in need of repairs and upgrades. No matter what the reason is, many churches have been able to raise the funds they need by creating their own cookbooks to sell. So how do you go about it? Read on to find out!

The first thing you need to decide is if your church is going to sell cookbooks that have already been created and published or if you want to create your own cookbook by collecting recipes for the church members. Both methods have their pros and cons so make sure to research both to see which is best for your congregation.

Some great fundraising tips!

I personally think it’s best to create your own cookbook. It’s a lot easier to sell something when you are personally connected and invested in the project. Imagine being able to flip to the page with the recipe you submitted and being able to explain to a potential customer exactly how to make it and why it’s so good. Not only that, but making your own cookbook allows you to tell personal stories so you can really highlight the sense of community within your church. However it is much more work to make your own cookbook than it is to buy cookbooks that have already been published.

If you do decide to make your own cookbook, the next thing to figure out is where the recipes are going to come from. Ideally, you will be able to collect recipes from members of your church so the cookbook has a personal touch to it. Make sure to get stories to go along with the recipes! Personal stories go a long way when you are selling the cookbooks! Looking for fundraising ideas for schools?
